I've been wondering how big of a deal typography really is when it comes to making brand packaging effective. Like, does the choice of fonts, the way the text is arranged, or even the spacing between letters actually influence how people perceive a product? Does it affect stuff like trust, attention, or whether someone feels drawn to pick that product off the shelf? Would love to hear opinions or examples where typography made or broke the packaging design.

Honestly, I don’t think typography matters that much unless the rest of the packaging design is already on point. If the colors, imagery, or even the quality of the materials are off, fancy fonts won’t do much. Most people don’t even notice the typeface unless it’s really terrible. Do you think it’s ever the main reason someone buys a product?

From a psychological angle, typography can subconsciously set the mood for the whole brand experience—think about how playful lettering cues something fun or minimalist fonts suggest sophistication. Sometimes even little tweaks, like customizing a single letter, can distinguish a product in a crowded market. Have you ever noticed a package where the font gave you an instant vibe before you even looked closer?
