So, I've been mulling over something lately. With the way mental health and well-being now take centre stage in our society, we see mind relaxation and meditation products being thrown left and right at us. The way these products are physically packaged seem to catch my eye. It's like they subtly hint at their purpose through their aesthetics. Got me thinking though, how much does this growing emphasis on mental well-being actually influence the packaging aesthetics of these relaxation or meditation stuff? Anyone else noticed this? Seriously, if a meditation candle comes wrapped tighter than a bank vault, it kind of defeats the purpose. I’ve had bath salts that required the patience of a monk and the strength of a bodybuilder just to access. Sometimes it feels like the packaging designers want to test your commitment to inner peace before you’ve even used the product. Is this their version of a mindfulness exercise? “Before you may meditate, you must first defeat the plastic fortress.” Anyone else end up needing to meditate just to recover from getting their meditation stuff open?
