Are there any examples where a brand completely stepped up their packaging design and it ended up boosting their sales big time? Like, times when just changing the way the product looks on the shelf made people want to buy it more?

A good one that comes to mind is Coca-Cola’s "Share a Coke" campaign. They swapped out their regular logo with people’s names on the bottles. It was such a simple change, but it got people super hyped to find bottles with their own name or buy ones for friends and family. It turned their product into something personal and interactive, which made everyone want to buy it, take pics, and post about it. Sales went up like crazy just because of that little tweak in packaging. It’s a solid example of how customization can pull people in.

Honestly, flashy packaging isn’t always the golden ticket. I’ve seen brands totally revamp their packaging with bold colors or funky designs and it actually backfired. If the new look doesn’t match what people expect from that brand or makes the product harder to recognize, it can even hurt sales. The Tropicana juice fiasco is a classic—when they changed their carton design, tons of regular buyers were confused, couldn’t spot it on shelves, and sales plummeted. Sometimes people just like things to stay familiar! Have you ever stopped buying something because the packaging changed too much?

Minimalistic packaging also grabs attention these days. I’ve seen brands like Muji or even Apple keep it super clean and simple, and it totally stands out among all the flashy stuff. It sends a message of quality and confidence, which clearly works for their customers.
