Have you noticed a change in the quality or durability of consumable materials over time?

Been thinking about this lately. Can't help but feel like the stuff we buy these days just doesn't last as long as it used to and I'm not just talking about tech gadgets. From clothes, shoes, to kitchen appliances, everything seems to wear out or break down quicker. Anyone else noticing a change in the quality or durability of consumable materials over time? Or is it just me? If so, what kind of items are you seeing this trend in?

Absolutely agree, and don't even get me started on plastic things. They break at the speed of light! Any thoughts on how we can combat this as consumers?

You know, I’ve been having a running bet with my toaster. Each morning I stare it down and say, ‘Today’s the day you’re going to give up on me, isn’t it?’ It’s become a part of my daily routine. Jokes aside, it does feel like everything has an expiration date stamped on it the moment you take it off the shelves. Maybe it's time to invest in that "buy it for life" notion, or learn the magic of duct tape...that stuff seems to outlive all! Any wacky repair attempts that’ve surprisingly worked out for anyone here?

Well, I once managed to fix a leaking tap with a piece of chewing gum. Not exactly a long-term solution but hey, at least it gave me enough time to call in a real plumber sans the mini indoor waterfall! So I say, embrace the MacGyver within! Anyone else have any quick-fix stories up their sleeves?

Totally hear you. It often feels like things are designed to fail to make us buy more. But on the flip side, gotta admit some companies still make solid stuff. Key's to find 'em and support 'em.

Definitely a challenge, but seeking out and sharing info on brands that prioritize longevity could lead us to more sustainable choices. It's a teamwork effort!

Research is crucial. Look out for products with long warranties or those that offer repair services. It might also be worth checking out local artisans and craftsmen who still take pride in their work. They tend to use quality materials that can withstand the test of time. Let's spread the word when we find these gems!

I get the frustration, but luckily, some companies are starting to take note and improve their product durability. Sometimes all it takes is a little patience while the market adjusts.
